In the spring of 2003, three Lambda chapter sisters desired to start a Graduate Alumnae and Professional chapter in South Florida. Being that a great deal of the Florida State University's student population and Lambda chapter sisters are from South Florida, these sisters felt that a GAP chapter in South Florida could flourish greatly, just as the Lambda chapter had. The summer after graduation, Susan LoBianco, Lambda Chapter Founder, and Caryn Haywood joined Dawn Clouse, Lambda Chapter Founder, back home in South Florida. These three ladies founded the South Florida GAP colony during the summer of 2003. In the fall of 2003, Nicole Taylor, Nadira Mathlin, and Joy "Niecy" Williams, joined the colony. On January 23, 2004, these six women achieved chapter status and became the Xi Zeta GAP chapter.
